Currently, State Tutor positions are only available for those living in the following districts of Massachusetts: Berlin, Bolyston, Grafton, Holden, Millbury, Northborough, Shrewsbury, Southborough, West Bolyston, Westborough, Worcester. State Tutor offers three independent contracting positions: Advertising Agent, District Brand Manager, and Peer Tutor.

Advertising Agent
Responsibilities
An advertising agent's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Spreading State Tutor's name
- Providing accurate information to potential customers about State Tutor
- Persuading potential customers to join State Tutor
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to convey information accurately
- Is capable of building a large network of potential customers
- Good control of persuasive language
- Familiarity with many different mediums of advertisement (including internet, newspaper, etc).
Payment
Advertising Agent receives $20 per student who purchases at least 5 hours of private tutoring within 2 months of sign up and $30 per group of students who purchases at least 5 hours of semi-private tutoring within 1 month of sign up. There is no limit to the amount that can be earned as an Advertising Agent. Bonuses may be given out at State Tutor's discretion for exemplary work. Payment will occur in the form of a check sent to the Advertising Agent's address.
District Brand Manager
Responsibilities
There will be one or two district brand manager per school district. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Advertising State Tutor's brand name
- Conveying information about State Tutor to potential customers
- Finding sources where advertising capital can be spent effectively
- Locating potentially qualified tutors
- Being a liaison between the central district manager and the local school district
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to convey information accurately
- Leadership skills
- Ability to build a developed network of potential customers and tutors
- Familiarity with many different mediums of advertisement (including internet, newspaper, etc).
Payment
District brand managers receive payment based on performance. Their pay rate is directly proportional to the net revenue the company generates from their district and is discussed in more detail during a meeting with State Tutor representatives.
Peer Tutor
Responsibilities
A peer tutor's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Helping students improve their understanding of academic subjects
- Teaching students how to score higher on standardized tests
- Answering students' questions thoughtfully and carefully
- Being a proper academic role model and mentor for students
- Providing updates on the students' improvement status
Qualifications
- Core Requirements (required for all tutors regardless of specialization)
- Must be at least a high school Junior (3rd year).
- 3.5/4.0 GPA or higher
- 2100 or higher PSAT or SAT score
- At least 1 year of previous volunteer or paid tutoring experience
- Academic Subject Tutor
- Taken either the honors, AP level, or an equivalent level class in the academic subject
- Received a minimum numerical semester grade of 90 in the aforementioned class (both semesters if a 2-semester course)
- Advanced Placement Tutor
- Received a five on the AP exam
- Standardized Test Tutor
- For all standardized tests except SAT II: Achieved a rank of 97 percentile or higher in all academic areas of the exam.
- For SAT II Subject Tests: Received at least a 720 in respective subject.
Payment
Payment is by an hourly basis. This rate is determined individually and will be discussed at a meeting with State Tutor representatives. Additionally, bonuses are may be given by State Tutor for providing customers with an exceptional service.
